Auto highlights
Film the whole game and the app works out which bits to keep. No scrubbing through footage afterwards.
- Film itMount a GoPro or prop up any iPhone and leave it rolling. One continuous video of the whole game works best; one per half is fine too.
- Tap as it happensEvery goal, assist and keeper save is timestamped the moment you log it. Mark anything else worth keeping with one tap, or from your Apple Watch.
- Line it up onceAfter the game, tell the app when kick-off appears in the video. That one number places every clip.
- Cut it on your phonePick the video in the iPhone app. It cuts each moment, adds the scorer and the score, and joins the clips into one reel to share.

Before you carry on: Gaffer has zero tolerance for abuse and offensive content, in posts, captions, chat, names, clips and live streams.
- No abuse, threats or bullying, and nothing aimed at anyone for who they are.
- Nothing sexual, violent or illegal.
- Only film and post people who are happy to be filmed.
Report anything that breaks the rules (⋯ on a post or profile, tap a chat message, or Report under a live stream) and block anyone you’d rather not see. Reports are looked at within 24 hours, and accounts that break the rules are removed.

The commentary is made by Google’s AI
To make the commentator’s voice, Gaffer sends the lines it has written to Google (its Gemini and Text-to-Speech AI), through Gaffer’s server. The lines have players’ first names or nicknames, the team names, the score and the minute.
Google turns them into speech and sends the sound back. It doesn’t use them to train its AI. Nothing else goes: no video, no emails, no accounts.

AI is coming to Gaffer
Insights already turns your stats into ratings, a man of the match and player chemistry. Next comes the part that watches the game.
- AI match reportsA written report after every game, pulling the ratings, chemistry and turning points into a few paragraphs you can post in the group chat.
- Ratings from the videoMatch ratings and man of the match that look at the footage as well as the stats, so the work off the ball counts too.
- Team Elo rating and leaderboardEvery result moves your team’s rating. Play teams in your area, climb the local table, and find out your Elo.
- AI powered commentaryA commentator’s voice on your footage, calling the goals by name. For the full game or just the highlights.
